1st Week of December 2020thoughts as we finish out this week

Writer: Julie SkyeJulie Skye

a good chart says it all…you do not even need to read the words!

Set aside the pandemic…what kinds of returns can the different sectors of your portfolio be expected to return in the coming years? To construct your portfolio, we use Capital Market Assumptions…what the best and brightest minds say we could expect to see…and input those numbers into our financial planning software. These are the numbers that drive the growth of your portfolio over the coming years! Check out what the annual returns have been over the last 10 years (the red bar) and what the historical average has been (the blue bar). 😲Why does this matter to you? It takes experience, analysis, “good guestimates,” intelligent thinking and yes, some luck…to build out your portfolio to reflect where we are going…not just where we have been.

Contrarian indicators have long been one way to think independently…to go against the crowd running over the side of the cliff. One investment “old saw” says to “buy when there is blood in the street” and another is “watch what corporate insiders are doing.” Never underestimate what the smartest kids in the room are doing. 😲 Why does this matter to you? Note the green “up-bars” here…insiders were buying in March. Look at the red “down-bar” last week: insiders were selling. Market tops happen when money starts moving out.

The Price if Electricity...Solar Photovoltaic is lowest cost...not gas!😊 Why does this matter to you? Can you believe that the price of solar electricity has declined 89% over the last 10 years, followed by onshore wind and solar-photovoltaic? They are now cheaper than natural gas.

Today we filed Sustainable Advisors Alliance (SAA) with the SEC! Skye Advisors’ website, emails and logo will start migrating to SAA over the next few days and 5 new partners will be joining SAA over the coming months. Next week I will share who the first partner to and why I am so pleased to be joined by my first new colleague, after she is officially registered with SAA. 😊 Why does this matter to you? Almost 3 years ago to the day I launched Skye Advisors as a solo-Registered Investment Advisor. When asked, “Julie, what is your back up plan in case you fall off your bike” I always answered, “I’ll work that out later.”

This new firm is not just about having a backup plan! It is about finding some of the best and brightest minds in the Sustainable / Impact investing community to bring you new ways of thinking, new capabilities and the ideas and mega-trends that will change the face of our economy, and our world, as we know it.

Skye Advisors 2.0 was a short stop: Sustainable Advisors Alliance is now live! December is going to be busy!
